BERKELEY ILLINOIS MARYLAND ASSOCIATION

The Berkeley Illinois Maryland Association (BIMA) is a consortium consisting of:
Radio Astronomy Laboratory at the University of California Berkeley, Laboratory for Astronomical Imaging at the University of Illinois Urbana, and Laboratory for Millimeter-Wave Astronomy at the University of Maryland. The BIMA universities used to operate a millimeter-wave radio interferometer at Hat Creek, California, with support from the National Science Foundation.

The BIMA universities and the California Institute of Technology are now merging the BIMA and OVRO mm-wave arrays and relocating them to a higher elevation site at Cedar Flat to form a new much more powerful telescope, the Combined Array for Research in Millimeter-wave Astronomy (CARMA).
